Job Brief

Join Bengelina Hospitality as a full-time Host at Esca, our restaurant inspired by the sun-soaked French and Italian Rivieras. Esca’s "Cuisine of the Sun" features rustic, simply prepared dishes that are rich in flavor. The Host plays a pivotal role in providing an outstanding first impression and overall dining experience. We are looking for a professional and welcoming individual to manage our reservations, greet guests upon their arrival, answer the phone, communicate guest notes to the service staff, assist in the dining room when available, and ensure our high standards of service and hospitality. This role is crucial in maintaining the standards of ambiance and customer service that contribute to the restaurant's profitability.

This position offers a range of pay from $16-20 per hour based on experience. After 60 days of full-time employment, this role is eligible for health care benefits, with half of the expense subsidized by Bengelina Hospitality. Additional benefits include a daily family meal before service, a generous discount at our other restaurants, and discounts at our retail locations.

Job Responsibilities

● Warmly, professionally, and promptly greet guests as they arrive.

● Provide guests with menus while leading them to their tables.

● Coordinate with the service staff to ensure a smooth flow from the entrance to dining tables.

● Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management important notes from guest reservations. For example celebrations, allergies, dietary needs, and misc. extenuating circumstances.

● Efficiently manage reservations and seating arrangements using the appropriate software.

● Answer the phone and handle reservation inquiries.

● When not engaged with guests at the host desk, assist with some basic dining room support such as clearing empty dishes, helping reset tables for new guests, and polishing glasses.

● Maintain a clean and organized entryway and waiting area.

● Check on restrooms a few times during the shift to make sure they are stocked and tidy.

● Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed, particularly in the reception area.

● Collect guest feedback regarding their experience at the front of the house and communicate this to management and add guest notes to the reservations software.

● Participate in opening and/or closing procedures according to operational checklists.

● Take ownership of general upkeep of the restaurant to ensure a pleasant environment for guests and fellow employees.

Job Requirements

● Previous experience in hospitality roles such as Host, Greeter, or Front of House assistant.

● Familiarity with reservation management software is a plus.

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

● Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse clientele.

● Professional and warm demeanor, with a strong ability to handle stress and maintain composure under pressure.

● Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, to accommodate the restaurant’s operating hours.

● High school diploma; further training in hospitality or customer service is a plus.
